Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week
Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) are the most common birth defect in the United States. Each February, the Little Hearts organizations shares stories from families and information resources to promote CHD awareness. Every year the Children’s Heart Foundation hosts a Heart Walk Event to raise awareness and funds for CHDs.
Little Hearts, Inc. is a national organization dedicated to providing support, education, resources, networking, and hope to families affected by congenital heart defects. Membership consists of families nationwide who have or are expecting a child with a congenital heart defect.
World Birth Defects Day – March 3
This is a worldwide, volunteer-based organization whose aim is to contribute to increase the awareness on birth defects surveillance, prevention, care, and research. Help spread global awareness by supporting World Birth Defects Day.
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Awareness Month – September
This is an effort to raise awareness about the risks associated with prenatal alcohol exposure and to prevent the occurrence of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD).
Down syndrome Awareness Month – October
“It’s not about celebrating disabilities, it’s about celebrating abilities.” Down syndrome Awareness Month is a chance to spread awareness.
National Spina Bifida Awareness Month – October
The mission of the Spina Bifida Association is to promote the prevention of Spina Bifida and enhance the lives of all affected.
