Who We Are
The Arkansas Prevention Research Center for Women’s Health (APRCWH) is part of a national network of 20 Prevention Research Centers funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. These centers study ways to help people and communities stay healthier by preventing chronic disease, closing health gaps, and putting research into action through programs and policies.
Based at UAMS the APRCWH, we work with providers, researchers, and communities to improve women’s health during and after pregnancy.

What We Do
We work to improve women’s health through research and services in rural areas of Arkansas. Our major goal is to reduce high blood pressure in pregnancy, a leading risk factor for chronic disease and death. We aim to:
- Prevent deaths and problems in pregnancy
- Support women’s physical, mental, and emotional health
- Connect women to care and community resources
