About the Department
Environmental Health Sciences comprises the elements of public health that are concerned with assessing, understanding, and controlling the impacts of the environment on individual and population health. At the UAMS Department of Environmental Health Sciences, we achieve this through applying the principles and practices of exposure and risk assessment, community outreach and education, toxicology, regulatory sciences, genetics, and pharmacogenomics.
The department promotes healthy living and working environments through research, teaching, and service. We prepare students for an exciting and rewarding career with our comprehensive and rigorous program. Students are trained to anticipate, recognize, evaluate and control environmental factors that can influence the health of individuals and populations. In addition, the Regulatory Science Graduate Certificate fills an urgent need in educating students in understanding the impact and implementation of regulatory decisions and the science that supports those decisions.
