The following table lists UAMS Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health (COPH) student scholarships and awards. These scholarships and awards have been established from gifts and donations from alumni and friends of the UAMS COPH.

Fay W. Boozman Public Health and Community Service Scholarship

Purpose: To provide support to a student seeking an MPH degree
Currently enrolled in MPH degree program

Completed at least nine (9) hours in MPH program with a minimum cumulative 3.5 GPA

Not a previous recipient of this award
Neil & Clara Spain Endowed Scholarship

Purpose: To provide support to a public health studen tin need who had demonstrated high academic performance.
Currently enrolled in a COPH program

Completed at least 12 credit hours with at least a cumulative 3.75 GPA

Not a previous recipient of this award
David E. Bourne, MD, MPH, Public Health Physician Memorial Scholarship

Purpose: To provide support to a medical student or resident who is currently seeking an MPH degree and exhibits and interest and aptitude in public health policy
Currently enrolled in MPH degree program

Demonstrated interest in public health policy

Has an MD or is purusing an MD

Completed at least nine (9) hours in MPH program with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA

Not a previous recipient of this award
Dean’s Society Scholarship

Purpose: To provide support for students in the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health
Awarded at discretion of the dean of the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health
Edward F. and Carol C. Stewart Scholarship for Academic Excellence

Purpose: To provide support to a student in one of the college’s master’s or doctoral programs
Currently enrolled in COPH master’s or doctoral degree program

Completed at least 18 credit hours with a minimum cumulative 3.5 GPA
Dr. Jan Richter College of Public Health Scholarship

Purpose: To provide support to a student in the Health Behavior and Health Education concentration in the MPH program who demonstrates the greatest commitment to public health and community service
Currently enrolled in Health in MPH program in Health Behavior and Health Education concentration

Completed at least 18 credit hours total with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA

Completed at least nine (9) hours beyond Health Behavior and Health Education core courses
Dr. John Baker Master in Health Administration Scholarship

Purpose: To provide support to deserving student in support of their academic and research efforts as they become leaders in the highly complext and changing healthcare system
Currently enrolled in Master of Health Administration degree program

Completed at least nine (9) credit hours with a minimum cumulative 3.5 GPA

Not a previous recipient of this award
ARORA Scholarship Award

Purpose: To provide support to a student seeking a master’s or doctoral degree in public health
Currently enrolled in COPH master’s or doctoral degree program with practicum as part of curriculum

Documented plans to conduct practicum in upcoming academic year

Demonstrates financial need
James M. Raczynski, PhD and Martha M. Phillips, PhD Endowed Scholarship

Purpose: To encourage students to consider a career in public health
Incoming or current student in masters or doctoral degree program

Demonstrates financial need
The Marshall Scholarship for Sexual Health and Gender Equity

Purpose: To encoursage students to consider the pursuit of public health as a career path
Currently enrolled in the COPH

Minimum cumulative 3.5 GPA on 4.0 scale

Indicate research interest in one or more of the following: Adolescent/emerging adult sexuality, sexual health and development; heatlh disparities among LGBTQ+ individuals; Prevention of HIV/STIs and unplanned pregnancy
The Marshall Dissertation Research Award

Purpose: To provide support to encourage doctoral students to engage in meaningful research opportunities in the discipline of public health and to offset expenses incurred during their research studies
Currently enrolled in COPH doctoral program

Minimum cumulative 3.5 GPA on 4.0 scale
Graduates of Arkansas’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities Scholarship

Purpose: To provide support for incoming MPH students who are graduates of Arkansas Baptist College, Philander Smith College, Shorter College, or the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff
Incoming student in the MPH program

Graduate of Arkansas Baptist College, Philander Smith University, Shorter College, or the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff
Second Presbyterian Church of Little Rock Health Equity


Purpose: To provide support to students as part of the ongoing efforts by the COPH to in the reduction of Arkansas racial disparities in access to health care
Commitment to, and promise of, achieving academic excellence in their chosen field in the College of Public Health
William Rankin Endowed Scholarship for Excellence in Health

Purpose: To provide support to students in the Master in Health Administration program who demonstrate academic and leadership aptitude
Currently enrolled in Master of Health Administration degree program

Demonstrates academic and leadership aptitude
College of Public Health Advisory Board Scholarship Endowment

Purpose: To provide support for students in the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health
