Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Analytics

Overview

The Department of Health Policy and Management offers a graduate certificate in the emerging field of Healthcare Analytics. This certificate is one of the newest and most innovative programs offered at the College of Public Health, and it is transforming how healthcare professionals are able to assess and improve medical care. For those interested in a more advanced program, we also offer a Master of Science in Healthcare Data Analytics.

The healthcare industry is moving rapidly from the fee for service model toward value-based purchasing where enterprises are reimbursed based on outcomes rather than volume of procedures. Decision-makers need timely information on a host of metrics from electronic medical records and other sources to compete in this new landscape. The number of positions in healthcare enterprises are likely to outstrip the available supply of qualified professionals. International Data Corporation (IDC) Health Insights identified analytics technology as “the top investment priority of organizations pursuing accountable care.”

The certificate program in this new and high priority field supports the UAMS mission to remain at the forefront of education, innovation, and the translation of discoveries into population health. It is the only training program dedicated to healthcare analytics in Arkansas and can be obtained in one year.
