Introduction

Dr. Wendelboe’s career goal is to improve population health outcomes by bridging academic and applied public health. He conducts epidemiological research and teaches and mentors students.

Teaching Focus

Dr. Wendelboe has taught a number of courses on infectious disease epidemiology-related topics, such as infectious diseases of public health importance, public health disease surveillance, outbreak investigations, and transmission dynamics disease modeling. He ha also taught a course on foundational methods of epidemiology.

Research Overview

The overarching theme of Dr. Wendelboe’s research relates to methodological aspects of disease surveillance. Some specific diseases of interest include COVID-19, influenza, and venous thrombosis. Additional research interests include outbreak investigations, emergency preparedness, and community-based engagement often linked to public health disease surveillance.
