Introduction

As the Associate Dean for Research, Dr. Amick support all aspects of the research enterprise across the College and, along with the Dean, represent the College to internal and external constituencies.

Teaching Focus

Dr. Amick’s teaching approach is to trust the student and their desire to learn. He structures courses as learning journeys for the student and less as faculty lectures. He is particularly interested in teaching principles of social and life course epidemiology.

Research Overview

Dr. Amick’s research includes both observational and interventional studies in which he has developed and implemented multiple programs in hospitals, businesses, and community organizations. He is focused on developing new cohorts of cancer survivors in Arkansas to explore differences in health disparities. He has published 200+ peer-reviewed articles on health disparities for the past 25 years.
