Research Interests
My primary research interests include investigating the role of tobacco product characteristics (i.e. flavors, product type) and social-environmental and psychosocial factors as contributors to tobacco use and tobacco-related disparities among socially disadvantaged groups. I aim to use my research to inform regulations and technology-supported observational studies and interventions to increase successful smoking cessation among socially disadvantaged smokers and populations disproportionately burdened by tobacco such as African Americans, persons with mental health conditions, sexual minorities, and socioeconomically disadvantaged populations. My research also extends to other health behaviors that contribute to health disparities including poor mental health and non-tobacco substance use (i.e., marijuana, alcohol).
