Joe Sundell is a PhD candidate in Health Systems and Services Research in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. His research focuses on how environmental and contextual factors influence child health, behavior, and educational outcomes. His has examined the mental health impacts of the 2022 infant formula shortage on maternal populations and identified associations between food insecurity, school meal policies, and ADHD diagnosis rates in children. Joe’s current research explores the relationship between medication adherence and academic outcomes among children with ADHD, using statewide datasets that link educational records and medical claims. His goal is to generate evidence that informs policies to improve child health and development, particularly within school settings. Joe earned a B.A. in Physics from Hendrix College and an M.S. in Applied Mathematics from University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
