Introduction

She is the PI for the Arkansas Rural Community Health (ARCH) Study of 26,375 women from every county in Arkansas. She is committed to sustain and enrich ARCH so populations from Arkansas can be heard.

Teaching Focus

She enjoys mentoring and supporting junior faculty, trainees, and students as much as she can. As a tumor biologist with specific training and expertise in environmental epidemiology and omics technology, she focuses on fundamental biology knowledge including cancer biology, molecular epidemiology, environmental health, and the application of epigenetic and metabolite markers in cancer research.

Research Overview

Her laboratory uses molecular epidemiology methodologies and omics technologies to identify factors that are contributing to high cancer health disparities in population studies. Specifically, she is interested in the etiology of environmental exposure and survivorship from cancer treatment toxicities in breast and prostate cancer patients, especially among those who developed early-onset cancers.

Fun Fact

During our community outreach events, I witnessed first-hand the health disparities in the Arkansas Delta regions which compelled me to devote my work in the rural and underserved communities. I love talking to the ARCH participants and hearing their life stories. I also enjoy swimming or watching movies with family when I am not at work.
