Teaching Focus
Dr. Park teaches epidemiologic methods for investigating the causes, prevention, and control of chronic diseases, such as cancer and cardiometabolic and cardiovascular diseases. He focuses on study design, risk factor assessment (nutrition, diet), and interpretation of research findings, as well as the critical review of published studies, with an emphasis on methodological and substantive issues.
Research Overview
Dr. Park’s research uncovers causes and prevention strategies for chronic diseases like breast cancers and cardiometabolic conditions (obesity, diabetes, hypertension, metabolic syndrome). He investigates the impact of diet, genetics, and social determinants of health factors on disease risk and outcomes, aiming to reduce health disparities in cancer survivors and improve cardiovascular health.

Fun Fact
Dr. Park has recently become an enthusiastic gardener. He sees parallels between nurturing plants and fostering health—just as a garden thrives when we understand and cater to each plant’s unique needs, human health flourishes when we identify and address the specific factors influencing it.
