About The Study
FRESH Delivers is a research study that aims to help African Americans in rural Arkansas counties quit tobacco smoking.
This study is being conducted by the Center for Research, Health, and Social Justice (CRHS) at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. CRHS is a part of a larger grant to eliminate cancer and heart disease in Arkansas.
The goal of FRESH Delivers is to fill a critical gap in knowledge, by using a home-based food delivery and smoking cessation counseling. This intervention was designed to help eliminate tobacco-caused cancer health disparities. This research study has been approved by the Institutional Review Board at UAMS.
- FRESH Delivers seeks to improve the health of African American families in rural Arkansas.
- This is a by chance (randomized) research study that includes home-based food deliveries and motivational counseling.
- This 6-month intervention will include brief surveys to hear your thoughts and opinions about cession and food security.
- You will be compensated for your time.
Who is Eligible?
- Those who identify as Black or African Americans
- Current cigarette smokers
- Men and women
- Ages 21-75
- Current residents of Chicot, Desha, Lee or Phillips counties in Arkansas
- Able to speak, write, and read English
