The UAMS Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health is proud to present our 2024-2029 Strategic Plan, a roadmap that will guide our efforts to address the unique public health challenges facing Arkansas while serving as a national model for public health education and leadership.
Our plan is built on five key pillars:
STRATEGIC PILLAR ONE: STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
Empower students to achieve their highest potential in their professional and academic pursuits.
GOAL: Improve the overall Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health student experience to achieve higher satisfaction levels.
OBJECTIVES:
- Increase student satisfaction rates with overall experience by 15% by August 2027.
- Foster a supportive student community, resulting in a 20% increase in students’ well-being and belonging by December 2026.
STRATEGIC PILLAR TWO: EDUCATION
Equip learners to transform public health and elevate the well-being of communities.
Goal: Enhance the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health’s academic offerings to better respond to current and emerging public health challenges.
Objectives:
- Launch, adapt, or strengthen a minimum of three programs focusing on critical and emerging public health issues and needs identified by September 2027.
- Increase the total non-concurrent Masters of Public Health student enrollment to 100 by achieving an average annual growth rate of 10% by August 2029.
- Improve graduates’ career-readiness scores by 10% by June 2028.
STRATEGIC PILLAR THREE: RESEARCH
Conduct impactful research that shapes policies and drives innovations in practice creating lasting, real-world change.
Goal: Enhance the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health’s research capacity to increase productivity, collaboration, and translation of findings into practice.
Objectives:
- Increase research funding secured by the College by 20% by December 2028.
- Expand the number of faculty and student publications in high impact journals (impact factor > 5) by 15% by July 2027.
- Boost the number of posters and panels presented by faculty and students by 20% by August 2028.
STRATEGIC PILLAR FOUR: PARTNERSHIPS
Nurture an inclusive and empowering culture with partners that inspires excellence, fosters, belonging, and drives positive change.
Goal: Forge sustained partnerships that engage community and amplify impact to achieve optimal health for all.
Objectives:
- Expand the number faculty, staff, and students involved in collaborative partnerships with community, government, and business partners by 5% annually through July 2029.
- Achieve an average community partner satisfaction rating of 4 out of 5 by May 2028.
- Develop and implement a partner management and communications framework to streamline collaboration and enhance communication efficiency by January 2027.
STRATEGIC PILLAR FIVE: COLLEGE CULTURE
Cultivate an environment that values and supports all members of the College community.
Goal: Foster a culture that promotes respect, accountability, recognition, and belonging for students, staff, and faculty within the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health.
Objectives:
- Improve the College climate by increasing satisfaction survey scores by 25% on respect, accountability, and recognition.
- Create and support an offline College student community by January 2025.
- Design and launch a staff and faculty recognition program by December 2025.
