September is UAMS Diversity Month and our Chancellor’s Diversity & Inclusion Diversity Month sub-committee has an exciting schedule of events lined up! The month will kick off on September 6, 2019, with State of Diversity and Inclusion at UAMS remarks by Chancellor Patterson and Dr. Brian Gittens. Following their remarks, we will present Dr. Edith Irby Jones Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion awards to a faculty, staff and student recipient. It is not too late to nominate faculty, staff, and students for the Dr. Edith Irby Jones Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Award, as the deadline to do so is August 23, 2019.
Nomination criteria and Nomination form
On September 9th and 16th, Dr. Gittens will lead a conversation about barriers to diversity, equity and inclusion and how to break BREAD (Bias, Racism, Exclusion, Apathy, and Discrimination) in “Breaking BREAD Dialogues: Reimagining Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at UAMS.”
Register for the September 9th or 16th event
We will end the event on September 27th with our International Fest, where you will be able to sample the cuisine, admire art and dance, and learn about the various cultures and backgrounds that represent our UAMS family.
