Please join us Monday, June 25 from noon – 2 p.m. in the COPH 8th floor auditorium for the second episode of the Showtime 5-part series: The Trade – a moving documentary on the opioid crisis.
- Behind the opioid epidemic are real people with real stories. Showtime’s documentary series, The Trade, sheds light on the opioid epidemic impacting families across the United States.
- The Trade tragically portrays each part of the drug chain and puts a face on America’s drug crisis. The compelling stories in the series can help both families deal with addiction, and prevent individuals from ever starting down that path.
- Get an up close look at the individuals, families and law enforcement heavily affected by the opioid epidemic in The Trade.
At the end of the screening Dr. Joe Bates and Dr. Nick Zaller will discuss the documentary’s impact through a medical and health behavior perspective.

Please join us on Thursday, April 5th from 5:00-7:30pm in the COPH 8th floor auditorium for a special screening of the film: From the Ashes. This film captures Americans in communities across the country as they wrestle with the legacy of the coal industry and what its future should be under the present Administration. From Appalachia to the West’s Powder River Basin, the film goes beyond the rhetoric of the “war on coal” to present compelling and often heartbreaking stories about what’s at stake for our economy, health, and climate. The film invites audiences to learn more about the industry on the edge and what it means for their lives. At the end of the film Dr. Alesia Ferguson and Professor Kevin Ryan will discuss the film’s impact through an environmental and health policy perspective.
