Donald Berwick, M.D., former administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicare Services and president emeritus of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, will deliver the 2015 Winthrop Rockefeller Distinguished Lecture at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 13.  Dr. Berwick, former clinical professor of pediatrics and health care policy at the Harvard Medical School, is a leading advocate for healthcare reform that focuses on the needs of patients and families.

Dr. Berwick’s presentation, “Clinicians as Leaders in Health Care Reform,” will be in the Fred Smith Auditorium at the Spine Institute. Due to limited auditorium seating, tickets will be required for this auditorium. The presentation also will be broadcast live to numerous locations on the UAMS Little Rock  campus, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, and UAMS regional campuses.

One is at the Spine Center auditorium at 1:30 pm. This event does require tickets. There are other sites on campus where the lecture will be shown live on the UAMS Little Rock  campus, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, and UAMS regional campuses.  Tickets are not required at these locations:

• College of Public health Building – Pauly Auditorium (Room G219)
• Arkansas Children’s Hospital – South Wing, 2^nd Floor, Committee for the Future Conference Room

There will be another opportunity at 3:30 pm in which Dr. Berwick will meet with students for a Question-and-Answer session in the College of Public Health’s 8^th Floor Auditorium.  Students are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to interact directly with Dr. Berwick.  While seating is limited, tickets are not required for this session. This interaction is intended to have a public health focus and will be different than the 1:30 presentation.
