Congratulations to Rosalind Penney, Ph.D., who is a recipient of the UAMS 2015 Teaching with Technology Excellence Award. The award recognizes individuals for their outstanding teaching, support and leadership contributions to UAMS involving educational technology, distance, or online educational efforts. Dr. Penney is an Instructor in the COPH Department of Environmental and Occupational Health. Dr. Penney teaches Environmental and Occupational Health, a core course in the MPH and MHA curricula, on Blackboard. The award will be presented to her at the annual Teaching with Technology Symposium on July 24. Dr. Penney is also the 2015 recipient of the COPH Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Holly Felix, Ph.D., is the new Director of the Ph.D. program in Health Systems and Services Research, which is under the auspices of the COPH Department of Health Policy and Management (HPM). Dr. Felix is an Associate Professor in HPM. She is replacing HPM Chair Mick Tilford.
Faculty and Staff Departures
Stephen M. Bowman, Ph.D.
Dr. Bowman has accepted a new position with Walden University as Director of the Ph.D. in Health Services and the Doctor of Health Administration Programs. He will remain on the College of Public Health faculty as Associate Professor in the Health Policy and Management Department on a part-time basis beginning in August, 2015 in order to continue to pursue his research activities related to Arkansas’ trauma systems and services. Dr. Bowman has served the COPH in the position of Director of the Masters in Health Administration Program for the past two years, and as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in 2013-14.
Marilyn S. Bowman, MPA
Ms. Bowman is leaving her position as COPH Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration, a position that she has held since September, 2013. She plans to retire from her full-time management career to pursue other interests.
