Helena Regional Medical Center CEO Leah Osbahr has been named 2017 Outstanding Alumnus of the UAMS College of Public Health’s Master of Health Services Administration/Master of Health Administration (MHSA/MHA) Alumni Association.
Osbahr has more than 10 years of hospital chief executive officer experience. Prior to Helena Regional, she served from 2008-2014 as CEO for Washington County Memorial Hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital in Missouri. Osbahr served as the CEO of Lawrence Health Services in Walnut Ridge from 2004-2008.
“Leah and her career achievements exemplify in human terms how the MHA program achieves one of its primary goals, to train administrators who will be working daily to improve the health of Arkansans,” said Rick Ault, MHA program director.
Osbahr received a Bachelor of Science in 1989 from the University of Central Arkansas. She went on to earn two masters’ degrees. First at Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine where she graduated with a Master’s in Public Health in 1998. She then continued her studies at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) where she earned an MHSA in 2003. The MHSA program at UALR was transferred to the UAMS College of Public Health in 2005 where it later transitioned to the MHA program.
She was the 2012 Missouri Hospital Association Visionary Young Leader Award winner and the 2006 recipient of the Arkansas Hospital Association’s C.E. Melville Young Administrator of the Year award.
“Her career path is inspiring and one that current MHA students will continue to look up to,” Ault added.
