Deadline: January 19, 2016
The Los Angeles-based Point Foundation is accepting applications from lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer students for its national scholarship program.
Through the annual program, the foundation will provide financial assistance and programmatic support to LGBTQ students enrolling in undergraduate or graduate programs for the 2016-17 academic year.
Each scholar will be paired with a mentor and will participate in leadership development training with fellow Point Scholars. Point Scholars also work with their mentors to give back to the LGBTQ community by completing an individual community service project each year.
Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence, leadership skills, community involvement, and financial need. Attention is given to applicants who lost financial and social support as a result of revealing their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression.
The foundation’s online application portal will open on November 1, 2015.
Applicants must submit Part I of the application no later than January 19, 2016. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit Part II of the application, which must be completed by February 1, 2016.
