Community Campus-Partners Conference to Address Health Disparities:
The Power of the Faith Community to Promote Health Equity

Conference objective: To convene UAMS faculty, staff, and students with community leaders and colleagues throughout Arkansas to promote strategies that enhance the development and sustainability of community-campus partnerships in an effort to eliminate health disparities in Arkansas.
Conference registration is FREE, but will be limited to 200 participants.
Target audience: faith leaders, health ministries, educators, researchers and health care providers. Keynote speaker: Acacia Bamberg Salatti, Director of the Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships, US Dept. of Health and Human Services.

CDC Public Health Informatics Fellowship, in the Atlanta, Georgia Area
A unique and state-of-the-art fellowship opportunity to put science into action is available in
the Office of the Associate Director for Science (OADS) in the CDC Office of the Director.
The fellowship will emphasize acquiring skill and knowledge for developing and implementing the evaluation of CDC science, research, and investigations particularly with quasi-experimental and experimental designs and logic models where IT is a tool to leverage in this area of work, and the applied, natural environment is the setting for the conduct of empirical and scientific investigations in support of CDC science quality and integrity.
Qualifications: Master’s Degree or higher in the social, natural, physical, or computational
Sciences, engineering, or public health.

14th Annual Disparities in America: Working Toward Social Justice Workshop
University of Houston, Texas/Downtown June 20-25
The goal of the workshop/course is to provide a comprehensive understanding of health disparities, to investigate approaches to enhancing health equity and to provide participants with a broad base of knowledge related to a biopsychosocial approach in addressing health disparities in a minority and the medically underserved populations.
