Students Beginning Program Spring 2012 to Fall 2020
- Apply a testable plan for the identification, quantification or communication of potential adverse human health effects that might result from exposure to an environmental agent.
- Apply current health risk assessment methods, utilized by various federal agencies, to problems relevant to urban and rural communities.
- Apply knowledge of the general mechanisms of toxicity in the prediction of or identification of adverse response after exposures to various classes of chemical and physical agents, including extrapolation from high to low and short to long duration exposures.
- Apply specific approaches/methodologies for the identification, assessment, prevention and control of environmental hazards that pose risks to human health and safety.
- Compare (qualitatively and quantitatively) the common genetic, physiologic, psycho social and demographic factors that affect susceptibility/vulnerability to adverse health outcomes following exposure to environmetal agents.
- Critically evaluate and apply various risk assessment, risk management and risk communication approaches that might be applied to evaluation of issues involving environmental justice and equity.
- Differentiate the scope and application of federal and state regulatory programs, and non-governmental guidelines and authorities directed toward management of environmental hazards.
- Identify and communicate (qualitatively and quantitatively) the direct and indirect human, ecological and safety effects of major environmental agents, including chemical, physical, biological, ergonomic, and safety exposures in outdoor, residential, educational and occupational settings.
