Non-degree seeking students are students who have not been accepted in a program of study leading to a certificate or degree. Formal admission to the College of Public Health is not required.
On a space-available basis, students may be allowed to take courses in the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health as a non-degree seeking student. In this capacity, students may take a maximum of twelve (12) semester credit hours that may be counted toward the requirements for a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate or Master of Public Health with the COPH. For the non-degree seeking program, applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien to apply.
Non-degree seeking students will be allowed to enroll in courses on a space-available basis in the order of registration once all degree-seeking students have been placed on the class roster. It is important to note that in some instances courses will be at capacity with degree-seeking students. When this occurs, no non-degree seeking students will be allowed to enroll in the course(s). The application fee will not be refunded. A new application, accompanying items, and fee must be submitted each semester a non-degree seeking student seeks to enroll.
Non-degree seeking students are required to apply through OAA (oaa.uams.edu) and submit the course approval information in order to attend the requested courses. For Academic Program, please select College of Public Health Non-Degree.
You are required to include the following information in the application:
- Prefix, Number and Name of course(s) that you might be interested in
- Reason for taking the course
Other questions listed in the application are self-reporting responses. Applications that do not include course information and reason for taking the course will not be processed.
Applications submitted through OAA will be processed as they are received.
Note: The UAMS employee tuition discount is not applicable to non-degree seeking students.
Completing this application does not guarantee approval for course enrollment.
If approved, students will receive a notification on the next steps they will need to complete in order to register. They will also need to do the following:
- Complete Payment of Tuition and Fees
- Complete all UAMS compliance requirements, including verification of health insurance, medical exam, flu vaccination, online HIPAA training, and TB skin test
Please contact our College of Public Health Director of Admissions at COPHAdmissions@uams.edu if you have any questions regarding this process.
